Safeguarding Statement

This statement should be read in conjunction with our Child Protection and Safeguarding policy.


Middleton St Mary’s is committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all children. We expect all of our staff and volunteers to share this commitment.


We recognise that:

- the welfare of the child is paramount

- all children regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, racial heritage, religious belief, disability or identity have the right to be protected from all types of abuse or harm.

- working together with children, their parents, carers and other agencies is crucial in promoting young people’s welfare and safety.


If you have any concerns about your child or another child at Middleton St Mary's, please phone the school office immediately on 01132 717206 and ask to speak to one of our Designated Safeguarding Leads (Deputies and Leads). Five of our staff are trained Designated Safeguarding Leads:

Mrs D Southern - Learning Mentor

Mrs N Gott - Learning Mentor


All of our staff are appointed following rigorous checks as part of the Safer Recruitment Process and have an Enhanced DBS and are trained at least annually on Safeguarding and Child Protection.  If you have any concerns about a member of staff, please speak directly to Mrs Wood, our Headteacher an no other staff member.
