Home or Remote Learning

Remote learning simply means any learning children do away from the classroom.

The online platforms that we are using are listed below with quick links.

Nursery and Reception

In Nursery and Reception, we are using Tapestry to 'capture' our children's learning. Tapestry is an easy-to-use online learning journal which helps school and parents/carers to record, track and celebrate children's progress in early years education.

Log on to see your child's profile - photos, videos and written comments and don't forget to add your own - we love to see what our children are doing at home too! Please email us if you need them in a different format or you are having any issues with Tapestry.

Hungry Little Minds is a great site with videos and children between the ages of 0-5. The BBC also has a great website for activities for children up to the age of 5 called Tiny Happy People.

Key Stage 1

Year 1 children and Year 2 children have access to Purple Mash. Your teacher can set you games, quizzes and activities to complete and you can even hand in your learning for your teacher to review! Purple Mash can be accessed on any device!

Go to the Purple Mash home page and select 'Find my school's login page.' You can use the school name or postcode (LS10 3SW) to find the school.

Once you have selected our school, children can then login and find work  or games to complete in their '2Dos' in the top left hand corner. They can also explore games and activities of their own if they want to by returning to home page. Don't forget to 'hand in' any completed activities so your teacher can provide feedback. Childrne might also find learning in the 'Sharing' tab, and then choosing 'Shared Blogs.'

Key Stage 2

Children in Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 also have access to Purple Mash, where games and activities can be completed at any time. Most of their learning can be completed in Google Classrooms. All Key Stage 2 children have a Google account for learning provided by their teachers. Simply go to the Google home page and choose 'sign in' in the top right hand corner. Children need to enter their username which ends in '@msmleeds.co.uk and then enter their password.

Once logged, in choose the 9 squares in the top right hand corner and select Google Classrooms. This will take children to their classes. They may need to 'join' their class if they have never done this before. Children will need to 'hand in/turn in' their completed work so that their teacher can provide feedback.

Extra resources and activities

If you would like further links or ideas for things to do at home in addition to the learning provided by their teacher, there are lots of websites and resources to explore below which children will be familiar with.

Phonics

In school we use Read, Write Inc to teach phonics. The Read, Write Inc Youtube channel is a great place for ideas to support your child in learning their sounds.

Daily Reading

All children need to read often to improve their fluency and understanding. Any reading they do is worthwhile, whether it's in a book, a comic, a magazine, a recipe, on a website or through an app.

Children in Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 all have access to Accelerated ReaderRemember to keep on quizzing too!!

The Book Trust is a great free online resource for books, quizzes and activities linked to reading.

Maths

As a school, we follow White Rose Maths schemes of learning, to help children develop a good understanding of Maths. This helps them to be confident Mathematicians for life.

The password children have for TT Rockstars will also get them on to Numbots and vice-versa.

English, Maths and topic lessons

The Oak National Academy launched its online classroom as a response to any disruptions in learning during COVID-19. They have created daily lessons for some of the science, history and geography topics we may cover in school, as well as for Maths and English.
