Welcome to the Y1 page. We hope you find the information useful. If you can't find what you are looking for please come and speak to one of our team.
Below are knowledge organisers for both Science and History, these organisers highlight the key facts children will be learning in both topics over the half term.
The best way to help your child with their learning is to read with them and to them as often as possible. Below are links to some websites that you may also find useful. If you would like any more help on support your child please come and speak to one of our team.
We have recently started using Read Write Inc to teach phonics. By clicking on the link below you'll find a series of videos explaining the basics of Read Write Inc. These videos will help you to support your child to continue their phonics learning at home.
We also recommend you download the 'Talk Share Learn Leeds' App which will give you some practical tips for ways to develop your child's speaking and listening.
Homework, reading and spelling:
Spellings will be given and tested on a Monday and sent home in a spelling book (please ask your child to practise writing them again and again on paper or ask for a LACAWAC sheet). Homework will be sent out every Friday in a homework folder. Please complete this within the week, returning the folder each Friday ready for the next piece of homework. Please also ask your child to read to you every night and comment in their reading diary. Bookbags, reading books and reading diaries should be brought to school every day. Thank you.
PE will be on a Monday and Wednesday (Sycamore class) and Thursday and Friday (Hazel class) so please remember your kit (navy shorts and black pumps/trainers). We will provide your child with a PE t-shirt in their ‘house’ colour. Our houses are: St Andrew (blue), St Patrick (green), St David (yellow) and St George (red).
