Tweeting an author!
Miss Wood tweeted the author of 'Letters from the Lighthouse' to tell her how much Year 6 were enjoying her books. The author was delighted to hear this and so pleased children were buzzing about reading.
Love of Reading!
Children of all ages love sharing books! Our very youngest children in Nursery have lots of books in their different areas of provision.
Year 2 love sharing books in their reading corner! We have a competition in school amongst the teachers to see who can make the best reading corner! Watch this space!
All children need to read often to improve their fluency and understanding. Any reading they do is worthwhile, whether it's in a book, a comic, a recipe, on a website or through an app.
Free e-books can be found at Oxford Owl for home. You can even find books to match children's Read, Write Inc colour if they are in a phonics group! It is free to join and very straightforward to set up.
Children in Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 all have access to Accelerated Reader. Remember to keep on quizzing too!!
Authorfy.com is a highly recommended free website. LOGIN, go to CLASSROOMS, select AGE and you will find many well known authors, with video clips and challenges.
