Newsletter - Summer 1
Why do ladybirds have spots? This half term, Reception children will be reading fiction and non-fiction books about mini-beasts. They will also be learning more about the world around them by learning about insects and mini-beasts as well as understanding how spring changes to summer. Children will also be counting beyond ten as well as securing their understanding of numbers below ten.

Reception children will continue with their daily phonics sessions and writing in their writing books. The focus for our class reading will be fairy stories and traditional stories such as 'The Three Little Pigs.' Children will continue recognising, ordering and finding one more and one less with numbers up to 10. We will also be looking for signs that Spring is here!

This half term, Reception children will be reading traditional stories such as The Three Little Pigs and Little Red Riding Hood. We will be looking at the numbers 1-10 and finding one more and one less of a group of objects up to 10. We will also continue our daily phonics sessions.
Newsletter- Autumn 2
What happens when we fall asleep? Do you have a routine when you get ready for bed? What is it like in the night sky? In our second half term we will be looking at bedtime routines, night time and the night sky (this could include some aliens!). We will then be moving on to learning about Christmas in December. We will continue daily phonics which supports both our reading and writing development and continue focusing on numbers 1 to 5.

Who are your family members? How can you be a good friend? In our first term in Reception, we will be looking at how to be a good friend and how to describe our feelings. We will also be finding out about people who might help us in school. Our focus will also be on the numbers 1 to 5.
