Summer 1: Do ladybirds have spots?
School has been closed to all but a few children due to COVID-19. Staff have been sending ideas, home learning packs and videos of themselves reading stories. We have been excited to see what children have been doing at home. Some have been keeping busy with baking, reading, games, walks in the woods and all sorts of other things. Here are a few of the photos sent in by parents.
Spring 2: Will you read me a story?
Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 this half term got cut short and we never got to have the Giant's 100th birthday party. However, prior to this we did lots of learning based around Jack and The Beanstalk and other fairy tales.
Spring 1: Will you read me a story?
What an exciting half term this was! We watched a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, then the wolf got arrested and escaped from prison. He broke into the classroom and wrecked one of our areas so we wrote letters to the police and they came and looked at the evidence. We also made wanted posters and put them up. Finally he was caught and he said sorry. We all made films and put on a Fairy Tale Show which parents came in and watched. Everyone was very proud of the children.
Autumn 2: What happens when I fall asleep?
This was a very busy half term. We learnt about The Moon and enjoyed the story Whatever Next! Parents came in and joined us for a special story by torchlight. We even got to take a book home with us to keep. We then had lots of preparations for Christmas and even put on a nativity play. It was called Whoops-A-Daisy Angel and we got dressed up and had to be brave standing up in front of so many people.
Autumn 1: Do you want to be friends?
What a super start to the year! We loved getting to know all the children. We focused on the story 5 Minutes Peace and even put on a 5 minutes peace party for parents to come in for. This took lots of preparation. We wrote shopping lists and recipes, visited Aldi to get all the ingredients we would need and then baked for the party. We made posters and invitations and even had to write letters to persuade Mrs Wood to let us have the party. The letters were so good, we managed to persuade her to let us!
