Welcome to the Reception page - we will regularly update this with exciting things that are going on in Reception or information that you may need to know. If you can't find the information you are looking for please don't hesitate to come and talk to a member of our wonderful Reception team.
In Reception, we are using Tapestry to 'capture' our children's learning. Tapestry is an easy-to-use online learning journal which helps school and parents/carers to record, track and celebrate children' progress in early years education.
Log on to see your child's profile - photos, videos and written comments and don't forget to add your own - we love to see what our children are doing at home too! Please email us if you need them in a different format or you are having any issues with Tapestry.
Keep a look out for activity ideas you can at home whilst we are in 'lockdown.'
We will share highlights of some of our learning below!
Spring 2: Will you read me a story?
The children were so interested and engaged in fairy tales and the Fairy Tale Show the children put on proved to be such a success, we decided to continue this topic. Please look at some of the writing and painting inspired by the stories.
Spring 1: Will you read me a story?
This half term we were focusing on fairy tales, particularly Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs. We learnt the stories, acted them out and had a 'Fairy Tale Show' that we invited parents to so that they could watch all our films. We even had popcorn! There were some exciting events through the half term as the Wolf escaped custody, broke into the classroom and the police came to visit to gather evidence. It was all very exciting.
Autumn 2: What happens when I fall asleep?
This half term we were used the story 'Whatever Next!' as our key text. We learnt about bedtime routines and the moon. We had a special story time that parents joined us for. The lights were switched off, we all got a copy of 'The Cave' to take home and we read by torchlight.
Autumn 1: Do you want to be friends?
What an exciting time of the year. We got to know all the children really well and learnt about their families and we spent lots of time learning about each other and how to be a good friend. We used the story '5 Minutes Peace' as our key text and prepared a 5 Minutes Peace party for parents to come in and enjoy 5 minutes peace. This involved writing shopping lists, visiting Aldi to buy the ingredients, baking, making posters, sending invitations and much much more. What a great start to the year!
