Year 1 Learning
English- Planning and writing a setting description
In Spring 2, Year 1 loved reading Beegu and learning about all things space. We particularly enjoyed imagining the planet that Beegu came from. We have worked hard to include adjectives in our sentences, as well as always remembering to use capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. Have a look at our Beegu story maps and descriptions of Beegu's planet.
English-Publishing a narrative
Take a look at some our published work by Kaitlyn and Aimee from February. We often publish our final draft after editing our first draft.
Maths-Numbers to 50
In Spring 2, Year 1 have been practising using tens and ones to find one more and one less than a number within 50. We have been representing tens and ones using base 10 notation, you can see an example in Nevaeh's work.
In Spring 2, Year 1 have been observing the change of the seasons. As well as that, we have been looking at the number of daylight hours in each season and what time the sun rises and sets.
History- Middleton Park Railway
In Spring 2, Year 1 have been finding out about the history of Middleton Park and Middleton Railway. We then looked further into the history of steam trains.
In Spring 1, Year 1 have been building moving vehicles. We looked at different vehicles, investigated how they worked and looked at their user and purpose. We then designed, built and evaluated our own vehicles.
