Year 2 Photos

Year 2 visited Middleton Woods in May. Our science topic is 'Living things and their habitats.' This week’s enquiry question was 'What is a micro-habitat?' We used the woods to explore different micro-habitats. We went in the woods, the open field and looked at the pond (from a distance). The children enjoyed the experience and were spotting other micro-habitats. Willow said, “Look at the hole in the tree! That’s a micro habitat.” All of the children saw a squirrel and could explain why squirrels live in trees.

Maths- Multiplication

We have using concrete resources in our Maths lessons to help us understand multiplication. We arrange the resources in to arrays to help us see the connections and use the multiplication sign.

RE- Christenings

In our RE lessons, we have been looking at the things that happen in a Christening or Baptism and the people who might attend. We have acted out what happens when a child is welcomed in to the family of a church.

Science- Everyday Materials

In science we have been investigating different materials and their properties. We needed to find the most suitable material for a rain coat for Harley the Knight and his friends. We worked scientifically to observe what happened to different materials when we poured water over them. Some materials were waterproof and others weren't.
