Summer Term Art
The keyworker children that have been in school really enjoyed learning about Andy Goldsworthy in art. We looked at some of Goldsworthy's work and then collected naturual resources to create our own in a similar style. We used Goldworthy's ideas for inspiration when sketching and creating. We also learnt all about different hot and cold colours. We hope that you like our work!
Spring Term Art
Over the Spring term, we learnt all about the artist Vincent Van Gogh. We looked at lots of different types of flowers and practiced sketching them, even using a view finder to help. Once we had finished sketching, we moved on to finishing the pictures in different ways by exploring types of media such as paint, chalk, colouring pencils and pastels. Here are a few pictures of us showing our artistic talents.
On the 13th February we took part in an RE day with volunteers from Hand To Mouth. We learnt all about the Holy Trinity after acting out a story and making pyramids with pictures representing The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit.
In history, we learnt all about the 1960s and toys from this era. As part of our hook lesson, we brought in our favourite toys to share with each other and compared them with toys from the 1960s. We even found out that lots of toys from the 1960s are still around today and Lego is one of them. What is your favourite toy?
Skipton Castle Trip
In Autumn, all of Year 2 went to Skipton Castle. We went on a tour led by a guide who pointed out all the key features. We impressed the guides with our excellent behaviour and knowledge of castles! Our favourite part was the dungeon, where the guides turned off the lights and it was pitch black for a few seconds.
